In addition to delivering and discussing the programs carried out related to poverty alleviation and community economic development through various initiatives and sectors, the Council Meeting of RENPER 2019 which was held at UNIB on April 26, 2019 also chose and appointed the President of RENPER period of 2019-2021.

Based on the agreement of all participants of the Council Meeting, Rector of UNIB, Dr. Ridwan Nurazi, SE, M.Sc was again chosen and given the mandate to continue the position as President of RENPER Asia for the period of 2019-2021.

This activity was attended by eight university delegates from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, India and Indonesia, who held a meeting in UNIB, led by Dr. Ridwan Nurazi.

Chairperson of Committee of RENPER Council Meeting 2019, Dr. Djonet Santoso (Academician and Researcher from FISIP UNIB) explained that the participants of this meeting were Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), San Beda University (SBU), Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City (BUH), Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Prince Songkla University (PSU), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and UNIB (Indonesia).

“Those present were 21 participants who were Rectors or Chancellors/Vice Rectors or Chancellors/Presidents or their representatives as well as Council Members and Representatives from each university,” Djonet said. Regional Network on Poverty Eradication (RENPER) is a collaborative network of various Asian universities for poverty issues initiated in 2010 by 10 universities in Asia: University of Bengkulu, University of Andalas, Syiah Kuala University, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Sultan University Zainal Abidin Malaysia, University of Battambang Cambodia, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam, Dhaka University Bangladesh, and Songkla University Thailand.

In its development, there were several universities that joined later, including Sri Venkateswara Universiti India, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Universiti Putra Malaysia, San Beda University Philippines, and Saint Paul Institute of Pnompenh Cambodia.

Efforts to eradicate poverty are carried out through scientific approaches by experts at each university. There is a process of transfer of knowledge and technology, guidance and assistance to the community that is carried out according to academic expertise. [Hms1/ksli].
