Rector Led UNIB Delegation to Succeed th 8th Conference of RENPER in Manila

As  the President of RENPER Asia, Rector of UNIB, Dr. Ridwan Nurazi, M.Sc directly led the UNIB delegation attending and participating to succeed the 8th Conference of RENPER at San Beda University, Manila, Philippines, October 23rd – 24th of 2018.

The UNIB delegation included Vice Rector for Resources, Dr. Ir. Sigit Sudjatmiko, M.Sc.; Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation, Dr. Ardilafiza, S.H., M.H.; Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Fahrurrozi, Ph.D.; Head of the Office of Partnership and International Affairs, Yansen, Ph.D.; as well as lecturers and researchers who presented papers including Prof. Zainal Muktamar, Prof. Nanik Setyowati, Dr. M. Farid, Dr. Abduh, Dr. Jonet Santoso, Dr. Titiek Kartika, and others.

Head of the Office of Partnership and International Affairs, Yansen, Ph.D. explained, members of the Regional Network on Poverty Eradication (RENPER) were as many as 15 universities in the Asian region. At this conference, universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, India and Japan participated in this conference.

In addition to the conference, there is also a Council Meeting which is a meeting place for representatives from each university member of RENPER to discuss issues related to poverty. The Council Meeting is chaired by the Rector of UNIB as President of RENPER.

In this international event, Rector of UNIB also gave a Welcome Message and Keynote Address about Financial Development in ASEAN.

RENPER is a regional network for eradicating poverty in South and Southeast Asia. This international forum is a forum for academics and researchers to contribute helping the government to realize poverty eradication effectively and efficiently.

UNIB itself is one of the initiating universities of the establishment of RENPER and has been successful as the host of the 3rd RENPER Conference in 2012.

Secara berurutan konferensi internasional ini pernah dilaksanakan di Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia, tahun 2010, Universitas Battambang, Kamboja, tahun 2011, Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB), Indonesia, tahun 2012, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia, tahun 2013, Universitas Perbankan Kota Ho Chi Minh (BUHCMC), Vietnam, tahun 2014, Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tirupati, India, tahun 2015, dan Universitas Pertanian Bangladesh (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh, pada tahun 2016.

In sequence, this international conference was held at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia, 2010; University of Battambang, Cambodia, 2011; University of Bengkulu (UNIB), Indonesia, 2012; Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia, 2013; Ho Chi Minh City Banking University (BUHCMC), Vietnam, 2014; Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tirupati, India, 2015; and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh, in 2016.

Tema 8th Conferenceof RENPER adalah “Pengurangan Kemiskinan Perkotaan : Tantangan, Inisiatif Kebijakan, Program dan Praktik.” Sub tema mencakup, tetapi tidak terbatas pada Kemiskinan dan Kelaparan, Kesehatan dan Kebugaran, Komunitas Berkelanjutan, Ketahanan Lingkungan, Pendidikan dan Ketenagakerjaan, Perdamaian, Keadilan, dan Perkuatan Lembaga-lembaga Kemasyarakatan

The theme of 8th Conference of RENPER is “Urban Poverty Reduction: Challenges, Policy Initiatives, Programs and Practices.” Sub themes include the Poverty and Hunger, Health and Fitness, Sustainable Communities, Environmental Resilience, Education and Employment, Peace, Justice, and Strengthening Community Institutions.[KSLI/Hms1/eve]
