Exciting news came from the 2025 National Industrial Robotics Competition held at the State University of Padang (UNP), West Sumatra, on February 17-21, 2025. One of the two robotics teams representing the University of Bengkulu (Unib) successfully won first place in the Debugging and Problem Solving category.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unib, Dr. Eng. Afdhal Kurniawan Mainil, S.T, M.T, expressed his pride in this achievement. “The success of our students is proof that Unib can compete in national and even international competitions,” he told the Public Relations Team via WhatsApp.

In this event, the Faculty of Engineering at Unib sent two robotic teams guided by Ir. Adhadi Kurniawan, S.T., M.Eng, IPM, ASEAN Eng. The first team was named Bentalara, with members Teguh Prestio (Electrical Engineering 2022) and Ahmad Kadafi Anom (Electrical Engineering 2023), and the second team was named Rafkarsa, with members Mhd. Rahul Bhatara Guru (Electrical Engineering 2022) and Roland Rafliwan (Electrical Engineering 2023).

After undergoing a series of rigorous evaluations by a competent judging panel, Team Rafkarsa emerged as the First Place winner in the Debugging and Problem Solving category. “This achievement is hoped to motivate other students to continue creating and bringing honor to the University of Bengkulu,” added Afdhal.

The competition was attended by 20 universities.

The National Industrial Robotics Competition organized by UNP in collaboration with EPSON, PT. UNPMES, and VMES 4.0, as the main sponsors, were participated in by 34 robotics teams from 20 universities in Indonesia, including Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), ASTRA Polytechnic, the State Polytechnic of Batam, Brawijaya University, Cendrawasih University, Telkom University, Bung Hatta University, Padjadjaran University, and others.

The competition was divided into four sessions. The Bentalara team competed in Session II, facing teams from State Maritime Polytechnic of Surabaya, IPB, UPN Veteran Jakarta, and others. Meanwhile, the Rafkarsa team competed in Session III, facing teams from State Polytechnic of Batam, Bengkalis Polytechnic, UPN Veteran Jakarta, and others.

Opened by the Secretary of Higher Education

The event was opened by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Dr. Ir. Aisyah Endah Palupi, M.Pd, together with the Rector of UNP, Krismadinata, Ph.D, on February 17, 2025, at the UNP Auditorium.

Prof. Aisyah also delivered a public lecture on higher education policy and the development of science and technology in Indonesia. In her presentation, she highlighted the 8 national missions in Asta Cita, including increasing access to higher education, strengthening scientific culture, and utilizing science and technology to solve social and economic problems.

Also present at the event were the Regional Manager of EPSON Southeast Asia, Ikhsan bin Ishak, and the Executive Director of PT. V-MES 4.0 Batam, Drs. Nadirman, M.M. Both reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting the development of robotics in Indonesia through collaboration with universities.
