The University of Bengkulu (Unib) welcomed a delegation from Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia, consisting of Professor Jaroslav Susol and Dr. Regec Milan, on Monday, October 7, 2024.

In addition to being speakers at public lectures held by the Information Systems Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) and the Library and Information Science Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), the delegation also aimed to discuss enhancing international cooperation between the two universities.

The delegation from Comenius University immediately held a meeting with the Rector of Unib, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, S.E, M.Sc, in her office shortly after arriving in Bengkulu.

This meeting was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mochamad Lutfi Firdaus, S.Si, M.T.; the Vice Rector for Resources, Yefriza, S.E, MPPM, Ph.D; the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Candra Irawan, S.H, M.Hum; as well as the Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Irfan Gustian, S.Si, M.Si. Also present was the Head of the Office of Partnership and International Affairs (KSLI), Ade Sri Wahyuni, S.T, M.Eng, Ph.D.

Professor Jaroslav explained that Comenius University is the largest and most prestigious university in Slovakia, established in 1919 with 13 faculties, including the Faculties of Medicine, Law, Arts, Natural Sciences, and others.

Dr. Regec Milan added that the university is active in various domestic and international research projects and actively participates in international student exchange programs, including with countries such as Germany, Austria, and Norway.

During the meeting, the Rector, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, welcomed the opportunity for more intensive cooperation with Comenius University. According to her, this will support Unib’s efforts to become a leading university by expanding its international network.

Some of the potential areas of cooperation discussed include curriculum development, joint research, and faculty and student exchanges.

Following the meeting, the Comenius University delegation visited several facilities at Unib, including the Library, the Office for Development of Information and Communication Technology (LPTIK), and related faculty buildings. The visit will continue until Friday, October 11, 2024.

Additionally, Professor Jaroslav and Dr. Regec Milan delivered public lectures attended by hundreds of students, covering topics such as Digital Information Accessibility, Inclusive Digital Services, and Information Security.

These public lectures, delivered in English and Indonesian, provided significant benefits for the academic development of Unib students and faculty.
