Hundreds of outstanding students throughout 2023 received rewards at the Outstanding Student Award Night event held at the GSG (Multipurpose Building), on Saturday night (16/12/2023).

The certificates and rewards for the outstanding students were given directly by the Rector, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, S.E, M.Sc, accompanied by Vices, Prof. Dr. Mochamad Lutfi Firdaus, S.Si, M.Si, Yefriza, S.E, MPPM, Ph.D, Prof. Dr. Candra Irawan, S.H, M.Hum, and Prof. Dr. Irfan Gustian, S.Si, M.Sc. The guests come from the deans and vice deans of the UNIB, the heads of institutions and technical implementing units, the student president and vice president of the UNIB BEM-KBM, and the heads of other UNIB student organizations (Ormawa). In addition, this event was witnessed by other UNIB academics online because it was broadcast live on the YouTube channel of UNIB TV.

Students participated in many events and competitions throughout 2023, reaching 217 competitions. However, after being verified, there were 30 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals that did not have sufficient supporting evidence because many competition organizers were only through applications. So, of the 217 competitions that were followed, only 73 events were declared eligible for awards and rewards from the institution in the form of coaching money totaling Rp.115,462,500, -, “said Ir. Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Candra Irawan, through the Head of the Bureau of Planning, Teaching, and Student Affairs (PPK), Ir. Titin Rahmawati, M.Si as the committee for selecting outstanding students in 2023, reported that after verification under the provisions, there were only 73 competition events or competitions at the regional/provincial, national, and international levels that resulted in student achievements that were declared worthy and entitled to awards.

Of the 73 events, the details are 34 provincial/regional level competitions, 28 national level competitions, and 11 international competitions. The list of students who received the awards and rewards can be seen below this news.

The awarding of this reward is a form of institutional appreciation to students who have struggled to achieve and make UNIB proud at regional, national, and international events. “The hope is that it will motivate other students and be more achievements,” said Ir. Titin Rahmawati.

Meanwhile, the Rector, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, in her speech expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the selection committee for outstanding students in the context of the Rector Award. With this activity, it is hoped that every outstanding student can report their achievements to get an award from the institution.

“No matter how small the achievement is, students should immediately report it to the Student Affairs Department and be included in the Rector Award selection we carry out annually. Because, no matter how small the achievements that students have achieved are significant for the institution’s progress,” he said.

The Rector Award activity, said the Rector, is a form of recognition and appreciation for the achievements made by students as the result of a passionate struggle, as proof of love for the alma mater, as well as a real contribution of students to the progress of the University of Bengkulu.

“These students are role models for other students and we appreciate the results of their struggles,” said Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri.

The Rector congratulated all outstanding students who received the reward, hopefully, this reward will further increase the enthusiasm to achieve even more achievements.

“Congratulations to the outstanding students who continue to inspire and contribute positively to this institution that we love. You are the pride of the institution, be a good example for other students, and hopefully in the future, more achievements will be made,” said Dr. Retno.

President of BEM-KBM UNIB 2023, Arca Wijaya accompanied by his Vice, Raudhatul Hasna, thanked the leadership for giving rewards to outstanding students and congratulated the students who had received the award.

“Thank you, Mrs. Rector, who appreciates the struggles and achievements of fellow students, and thank you also to the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, as well as the deans and vice deans who have been guiding and fostering us so that in the management of BEM this current period many achievements have been made,” he said.

Arca Wijaya said, that in addition to hundreds of achievements that have been achieved by students both individually and in groups, there is another quite proud achievement made by BEM-KBM UNIB in 2023, namely successfully getting 2 (two) records given by the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI).

“I think only us(UNIB) from state universities in Indonesia have received 2 MURI Records in one year. Of course, this is an extraordinary and proud achievement for all of us. We hope that this achievement will continue to be maintained and improved in the future,” said Arca Wijaya, who said goodbye because he would end his term as President of BEM-KBM UNIB.
