University of Bengkulu is trusted as the host of RENPER Council Meeting (Regional Network on Poverty Eradication) in 2019. The event was attended by eight university delegates from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, India and Indonesia, who held a meeting in the meeting rooms in rectorate building, UNIB on Friday (26/4/2019).

The Participants of RENPER Council Meeting are Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), San Beda University (SBU), Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City (BUH), Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Prince Songkla University (PSU ), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and UNIB (Indonesia).

Those present were 21 participants who were Rectors or Chancellors/Vice Rectors or Chancellors/Presidents or their representatives as well as Council Members and Representatives from each university.
This historic meeting was led by Rector of UNIB, Dr. Ridwan Nurazi, SE, M.Sc who is the President of RENPER Asia for the period of 2017-2019. The course of the activity was coordinated by an executive committee chaired by Dr. Djonet Santoso, lecturer as well as researcher from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UNIB.

At this meeting, each university delivered programs carried out related to poverty alleviation and community economic development through various initiatives and sectors.
Efforts to eradicate poverty are carried out through scientific approaches by experts at each university. There is a process of transfer of knowledge and technology, guidance and assistance to the community which are carried out according to academic expertise.[Hms1/ksli].
