One more effort was made by UNIB in order to improve international relations, especially in ASEAN region. Recently, UNIB together with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) and San Beda University (SBU) Philippines, has initiated the formation of the International Research Network (IRN) – Social Science and Humanities.
Head of Office of Partnership and International Affairs (UPT KSLI) of UNIB, Yansen, Ph.D explained, the involvement of UNIB who participated in initiating the establishment of IRN-Social Science and Humanities began with the active participation of academics from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UNIB in the 1st Joint Committee Meeting for Research Acculturation and Development in the Field of Social Science and Humanities held at the University of Kelantan Malaysia, Kota Bharu Kelantan, on 30th of October 2018.
At the international forum, UNIB was led by the FISIP Lecturer Team, Dr. Titiek Kartika, MA; Dr. Yunilisiah, M.Sc; Wahyu Widiastuti, S.Kom, M.Sc; and Verani Indiarma, S.Sos, M.A.
“Dr. Titiek Kartika explained to us that the focus of this network is indeed the field of social science and humanities. The main committee is divided into three parts, namely the Research Committee, Publication Committee, and Project and Promotion Committee. Dr. Titiek Kartika himself was trusted as the Research Committee Coordinator, “Yansen said.
With the formation of the IRN – Social Science and Humanities, Yansen said, it was hoped that it would be able to implement the agreed cooperation mission, first, to build a culture of sharing and increasing exchange to conduct research and publications in the social and cultural fields, especially in the ASEAN region.
Then, second, to facilitate and accelerate in order to obtain research grants in the field of social sciences and humanities. Third, to promote the sharing of expertise and knowledge in research and publications related to social science and culture among academics in ASEAN. And fourth, to conduct seminars / workshops / colloquium that can encourage increased research and publications, especially in the field of social and cultural sciences among the universities involved.
“We hope that this international network can implement the mission and plans discussed to be able to contribute to the improvement of research and academic cooperation among member of universities,” Yansen explained.[Hms1/eve]
