SERIES activities in order to enliven the 36th anniversary of University of Bengkulu in academic field were began. One of the activities held is the International Seminar on Counseling Guidance in Dekanat Hall of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of UNIB, Monday (19/3/2017).
This academic activity is very special because it presented the three major international teachers who are experts in Counseling, two of them are from foreign countries, as the main speakers, and presented dozens of academics and practitioners from various universities in Indonesia that discussed the results of research and study summarized in 20 proceeding in group discussion.
The three main speakers are Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aziz Shah Mohamed Arip from Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia; Prof. Aminordin Bin Omar from Singapore; and Prof. Prayitno, M.Sc, Ed from State University of Padang (UNP). The three counseling guidance experts presented a paper on the results of their thoughts in front of the seminar participants guided by lecturer of FKIP of UNIB, Dr. Hilda Puspita, M.A. as moderator.
The International Seminar was entitled “The Roles of Counseling in Accelerating Mental Revolution to Achieve Spiritual Awakening,” it was officially opened by Rector of UNIB, Dr. Ridwan Nurazi, M.Sc and attended by Dean of FKIP of UNIB, Prof. Sudarwan Danim, M.Pd and Vice Deans and Head of Study Programs within FKIP.
This theme is very important and relevant to the condition of the Nation where the mental revolution is a movement launched and encouraged continually by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Therefore, through this seminar, it is not only to provide the enrichment of science for lecturers and students, but also gives birth to brilliant ideas that can be recommended to the policy makers. Therefore, the mental revolution movement can be done well with expected results.
“I really appreciate for this seminar and thank to the speakers who have time to share knowledge to us all. This seminar is a series of activities to enliven the 36th Anniversary of UNIB. Hopefully on its 36th anniversary, UNIB becomes significantly developed and consolidates the step towards the realization of World Class University (WCU),” said Rector.
Previously, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Dr. Hadiwinarto, M.Si explained, the presence of both speakers from abroad at this seminar was an implementation of international association developed by FKIP of UNIB. The cooperation relationship between FKIP of UNIB and Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) – Malaysia was quite good, where foregoing the lecturer of FKIP of UNIB was also invited and became the speaker at the international seminar at UPSI.
“We are very proud because today we are the organizer of the seminar and able to invite Prof. Mohammad Aziz and Prof. Aminordin, as well as Prof. Prayitno to share knowledge and experience especially concerning the development of Guidance Counseling learning , “said Dr. Hadiwinarto.
At the seminar Prof. Mohammad Aziz presented a paper entitled “Application of Spiritual Awakening Therapy (TKS) in the Process of Helping Guidance and Counseling”. In other hand, Prof. Aminordin presented a paper entitled “Spiritual Journey, From Myth to Reality”. The third speaker, Prof. Prayitno presented “Successful Counseling with Basis and Direction: TJS Perpostur.”
As a form of appreciation to these three keynote speakers, Rector of UNIB, Dr. Ridwan Nurazi provided souvenirs in the form of UNIB’s plaque and award, followed by Dean of FKIP of UNIB, Prof. Sudarwan Danim who handed batik Besurek as a souvenir which is a distinctive outfit and becomes one of the icons of Bengkulu City. All three also held a photo session together with the Rector accompanied by Dean of FKIP of UNIB and Chairman of Seminar Committee.[Hms1/eve]
