FACULTY of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of University of Bengkulu held an international seminar to discuss the results of research in the fields of chemistry, pharmacy and medical sciences. This activity presents speakers from six countries, and was scheduled to take place two days, Tuesday and Wednesday (27th – 28th of November 2018), at Santika Hotel, Bengkulu City.
The event entitled The 1th International Conference on Chemistry, Pharmacy and Medical Sciences (ICCPM) 2018 was officially opened by Rector of UNIB Dr. Ridwan Nurazi, M.Sc, represented by Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Syahrial, MA, M.Phil. The opening ceremony was marked by beating of Dol by Dr. Syahrial together with foreign speakers.
In his remarks, Dr. Syahrial welcomed the speakers and participants and gave their highest appreciation for participating in this seminar.
“With this seminar, besides being able to add experience and add the enrichment of science, it will also increase networking and international relations which can encourage the realization of the vision of UNIB as World Class University (WCU) in 2025,” he said.
Then, since there is a city tour on the event, “We also welcome you to Bengkulu City and enjoy the beauty of tourist attractions in this area,” Dr. Syahrial.
Meanwhile, Chair of the Committee for the 1th International Conference on Chemistry, Pharmacy and Medical Sciences (ICCPM) 2018, Prof. Dr. Morina Adfa, explained that the six speakers were from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Nigeria and the United States. They are experts in their respective fields, researchers and academics.
The seminar with the theme “Advanced Research Development Base on Local Resources,” is an academic forum to present and discuss various research topics at home and abroad related to the fields of chemistry, pharmacy and medical sciences.

Similar was expressed by the Chair of Technical Program of ICCPM 2018, Dr. Sal Prima Yudha, S. “We would like to thank the event sponsors such as Bengkulu Bank, Bank Mandiri, Bank BRI, PT. Semen Padang, and Santika Hotel, as well as other parties who have supported this event. Given the importance of this seminar, in the future it will become an annual agenda for FMIPA UNIB, he said.
The seminar itself was formatted in two sessions, plenary and parallel session. The first day, the plenary session was guided by moderator Dr. Mohamad Rafi and presented three speakers, namely Prof. Mamoru Koketsu from the Faculty of Engineering, Gifu University – Japan, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abrar Alam from the Department of Chemistry and Physics, College of Science of Mathematics, Arkansas State University – USA, and Prof. Dr. Yun Hin Taufiq Yap from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra – Malaysia.
The second day, the plenary session was guided by moderator Akhmad Sabarudin, D. Sc with the speaker Dr. Agung Nugroho from the Department of Agro-Industry Technology, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru – Indonesia, and Prof. Sirikanjana Thongmee from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University, Bangkok – Thailand.
Then a parallel session was held in several rooms of Santika Hotel, which were guided by a number of moderators, including Dr. Asdim, S.Si, M.Sc, Rahmaga Febriansyah, S.Si, Dr. Agus Martono, DEA, Meka Saima Perdani, S.Si, Dr. Irfan Gustian, S.Si, M.Sc, Alex Junico Ginting, S.Farm, Apt, M.Sc, Dr. rer. nat. Totok Eka Suharto, MS.
In a parallel session, also presented guest speakers including Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi from the Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB), Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Noor Haida Mohm Kaus, MRSC from Universiti Sains, Penang – Malaysia; Prof. Akhmad Sabarudin, D.Sc from Brawijaya University, Malang – Indonesia; and Prof. Dr. Oman Zuas, M.Sc from the Research Center for Metrology Indonesian Research Institute (RCM-LIPI).
On the sidelines of the seminar, researchers and academics from abroad and from within the country also participated in the city tour organized by the committee. The group visited Fort Malrborough, Bung Karno’s Exile House, Pantai Panjang Beach, and a number of other mainstay attractions. This activity was intended as a contribution by FMIPA UNIB to promote tourism in Bengkulu city and support the Bengkulu Wonderful 2020 program.[Hms1/Art/eve]
