FACULTY OF LAW HAD LECTURER FROM NETHERLANDS

In the recently week, Faculty of Law, University of Bengkulu invited guest lecturer from Netherlands to provide enrichment of knowledge to students, especially about Dutch language which is widely used in the world of Indonesian law.

This guest lecturer was Leon Ladan, a language practitioner who works at Department of Home Affairs of Netherlands. He is fluent in Bahasa because he studied at Department of Indonesian Literature. By mastering these two languages, Leon was presented to the Faculty of Law of UNIB in order to transfer his knowledge to students, especially about legal language which uses Dutch.

Dean of Faculty of Law of UNIB, Prof. Dr. Herawan Sauni, SH, MS., explained that the presence of a guest lecturer from Netherlands was one of the implementations of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) conducted by Faculty of Law of UNIB with a number of institutions in Netherlands some time ago.

With the presence of this guest lecturer, students are expected to be able to hear directly how intonation is, correct pronunciation of Dutch that is widely available in books and legal theories so that there is no misinterpretation.

“This is at the same time as one of the implementation of student knowledge enrichment programs and increasing institutional capacity in encouraging the realization of world class university in 2025,” said Dean of Faculty of Law, UNIB, Prof. Dr. Herawan Sauni, SH, MS.

Leon Ladan gave students lecture until September 21st, 2018. The lecture is adjusted to the schedule of lecturer and student class that wants to be filled in or interspersed by lecturing from this guest lecturer, both regular and extension classes.

The material presented by Leon is Dutch which is often used in the world of Indonesian law, such as in the field of the marriage law, the world of lawyers, civil law, and other Dutch-language legal terms.[Andrian/Hms1/eve]
